Discount sets
Add codes to an existing Shopify discount
Already have a discount set up in Shopify, maybe with one code? DiscountFix can add hundreds or thousands of unique codes to it without touching its settings.
When to use it
- You built a discount in Shopify with options DiscountFix doesn't offer, and now need unique codes for it.
- A campaign already runs with a shared code (
SPRING15), and you want single-use codes with exactly the same rules. - You want Shopify to stay in charge of the discount's settings, and DiscountFix only to produce the codes.
For a brand-new campaign, creating a set in DiscountFix is simpler and lets you edit everything from the app.
Step by step
- On the Discount Codes page, click Add codes to an existing discount.
- Find the discount. The list shows your store's code discounts, newest first, 20 per page. Search by title, or filter by Active, Scheduled or Expired. Each row shows its type, status, how many codes it has, and its dates. Discounts made by apps (for example a discount app built on Shopify Functions) are listed separately: switch Shopify discounts to App discounts.
- Click Add codes on the discount.
- Under Code Settings, choose random or specific codes and the format. The Summary shows the discount you're adding to: type, value, existing codes, usage limit per code, one use per customer, and dates.
- Click Add codes. You'll see Codes are being added to your discount. and can follow the progress on the Discount Codes page.
Discounts made by other apps are listed too. A discount that is already in DiscountFix shows an In DiscountFix badge; clicking it takes you to the normal Add codes page for that set.
What changes, what doesn't
| Details | |
|---|---|
| The discount | Value, products, minimum, customers, usage limits, combinations and dates stay exactly as configured in Shopify. The new codes follow them. |
| Existing codes | Untouched. They keep working alongside the new ones. |
| In DiscountFix | A set appears in the list with the discount's title and a From Shopify badge, and gets an ID like any other set. |
| Your allowance | The new codes count toward your monthly code allowance. |
After the codes are added
A From Shopify set works like any other set, with one exception: its settings are edited in Shopify, so it has no Edit settings button in the app.
- Export the codes, add more with +, and see Stats on Pro and Unlimited.
- Hand out codes one by one with Flow's Reserve a unique discount code, using the set's ID.
- To change the dates or value, edit the discount in Shopify. Use Shopify, not the Flow Extend end date action, to change its end date.
- Deleting the set in DiscountFix leaves the Shopify discount and all its codes, old and new, in place.
